See You in the Fall!

Hello, Friends… We’ve made it to the last weekend of our Spring soccer season! Please join me in giving a huge thanks to all of our volunteer coaches and assistants. I’m particularly grateful for the contributions of our age group Directors… our Director of Coaching and Development, Dan Ryan… and all members of our Board of Directors. Teamwork is one of the most important life skills we try to teach all kids in our program. Without our own team of volunteers working together behind the scenes, that program simply wouldn’t be possible.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, I hope that you’ll consider joining MYS again for our Fall 2022 season. Registration is off to a strong start and it’s important that you register as soon as possible. Early registration helps our Board plan for the number of teams we’ll be able to field at each age group and we don’t want anyone to miss out on the fun! You can register today at www.marlboroyouthsoccer.org/registration.

Thanks again for an outstanding season, and for choosing to play with Marlboro Youth Soccer. I hope that you have a fantastic summer and I look forward to seeing everyone back out on the fields in the Fall!

Matthews Family Scholarship

While Marlboro Youth Soccer has issued scholarships to graduating High School seniors for several years, I’m pleased to announce that this year we’ll award our first ever Matthews Family Scholarship!

Adam and Heidi Matthews have been fixtures in the MYS community for many years --- active volunteers while their children, Brenden and Courtney, played for Marlboro Youth Soccer, and continuing to serve after both graduated from the program. Adam ran the Boys U12 and U14 program for several seasons (currently, Grades 5-8) before taking a leadership role on the Board of Directors as Vice President in 2000. His service to MYS set an example for other adult volunteers, and he very quickly became a man who wore “many hats” for the organization. When not coaching his teams, you’d often find him painting lines at Ghiloni Park! Adam provided tremendous leadership for the MYS Board of Directors and served as one of our organization’s longest-standing Presidents from 2009 to 2020.

Heidi joined the Board of Directors in 1999 and was instrumental in starting our Kindergarten program. She ran that program for several years, in addition to our U8 and U10 programs (currently, Grades 1-3), and was awarded by MA Youth Soccer as “Volunteer of the Year” during her tenure. Heidi helped organize the Ghiloni Park concession stand, and most recently served MYS as our Equipment Manager before leaving the Board with her husband in 2020. In addition to her service to MYS, Heidi was elected to the City of Marlborough School Committee in 2011 (where she still serves today!) and was a member of the School Councils at the Jaworek Elementary School, Whitcomb Middle School, and Marlborough High School.

Naming our scholarship program in their honor seems like the most appropriate way to say “thank you” to Adam and Heidi… both for their years of exemplary service to our entire MYS community, and for their commitment to academic excellence in our City. This year, we are pleased to award $500 scholarships to two worthy applicants who have made their own key contributions to MYS. Per our custom, those awards will be announced at each recipient’s graduation ceremony… We can’t wait to share the news with you soon!

Regards,

Brian DuPont – President

Fall 2022 Registrations are Open

Marlboro Youth Soccer Community

Our Fall 2022 registrations are now open for all age groups and volunteers.

Please register early, team commitments for our BAYS travel league (Grade 3 and above)  are due in by the first week of July. We cannot guarantee a spot on a travel team if you are not registered before then.

For all programs, we need volunteers.   Marlboro Youth Soccer is an entirely volunteer run program, it is through your volunteering that we are able to run programs.  We need coaches, assistant coaches and board members to fill a variety of positions. We need referees. If you have knowledge of the game and would like to become a referee, get some exercise, fresh air and get paid as well consider getting certified. Without volunteers the kids don't get to play so we need help.

To register, visit the registration page

If you have any questions or issues registering please email the Registrar at

Thank You

MYS Coaches Academy

Are you new to our program and wondering what it takes to be a youth soccer coach? Have you coached for Marlboro Youth Soccer before, and are looking to take your skills to the next level? Do you have questions about how to handle certain game or practice situations?... Well then, we have a program for you!

This season, Marlboro Youth Soccer is pleased to introduce our new Coaches Academy, led by our Director of Coaching and Development, Dan Ryan. Dan is an experienced, professional soccer coach with our partner club team, the Boston Bolts. Those of you who have had the privilege of meeting Dan on a Saturday at Ghiloni last Fall will agree that he is passionate about the game, about our youth, and about our community!

This FREE program is tentatively scheduled to meet every other Monday night during the Spring season, to avoid conflicts with other soccer activities. We’ll discuss what it means to be a coach, how to engage new teams and new players, how to analyze game situations, and how to develop practice plans. No experience is required!

As many of you know, our organization is run entirely by volunteers. Our Board of Directors wants to make sure that our entire coaching community has all of the tools and resources necessary for our program to be successful (and we just might have some fun along the way!). Please join us and register HERE today!

Sincerely,

Brian DuPont - President
