Scrimmage Sundays

MYS Families,

Every season Marlboro Youth Soccer offers opportunities for players to get additional time playing and practicing soccer.  This season we are going to hold a new program, we are calling Scrimmage Sundays.  These will be sessions on Sunday offering players a chance to get outside and just play soccer.  We will not be focusing on skills or technical, but spending 1 hour just scrimmaging with other players their age.  The emphasis for these sessions will be fun, we want to give the players a low stress neighborhood pickup game feel.  There will be coaches present to supervise, but not to coach.

We ask that parent remain at ghiloni but to not cheer or coach their children from the sideline.

We will open up the sessions this Sunday, September 22nd at Ghiloni park  This week we  will be offering the following sessions

11:00 - 12:00 Boys Grade 5 and 6

12:00 - 01:00 Girls Grade 5 and 6

Sessions are open to all currently registered players.   Players should come dressed to play soccer, cleats, shin guards, weather appropriate gear and a drink -  no uniforms.

Thank You

Fall Season Information

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to bring a couple of items to your attention to ensure that the season runs smoothly.

Everyone should show up early and be prepared to start games and practices on time.  Players can wear sneakers or soccer cleats, but no baseball/softball or football cleats.  Shin guards must be worn for practices and games.  There should be no jewelry other than medical alerts, no exceptions (earrings can be removed from newly pierced ears and replaced after the game/practice without any issues).  These rules are for the safety of all the players.

Everyone should read the Zero Tolerance Policy ( click here to view policy) and MYS Code of Conduct (included below). We are an organization that follows these policies and expects our volunteers, players and parents to as well.  If you have any questions, please let me know because everyone will be held accountable for their actions and adherence to both policies.

Parents should cheer for their children but not try to coach them.   We have coaches to work with the players and often a parent giving advice to a player only confuses the player especially if their instructions go against what the coach has asked them to do.

Please remember youth soccer is about development, winning means absolutely nothing.

We are looking forward to a great season,

Adam Matthews
President
Marlboro Youth Soccer

Code of Conduct

  • Through submitting the membership application for my child, I also am a member of the Club, and am therefore subject to the Club's rules, and to the rules and regulations of the organizations to which the Club belongs.
  • My child plays soccer for his or her benefit, not mine.
  • I will not give instructions to players -- that is the coach's role.
  • I will never question the referee's judgment, integrity or honesty.
  • I will support all efforts to eliminate verbal and physical abuse from the game of soccer.
  • At all times I will show respect for the players, the coaching team, referees, and opposing players and coaches.
  • I will teach my child that doing one's best is as important as winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game.
  • I will make my child feel like a winner by offering praise for competing fairly and doing their best.
  • I will encourage my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
  • Children learn by example. I will applaud good plays by both my child's team and their opponents.
  • I will make sure that my child arrives for practices and games at the time designated by the coach.
  • I realize that the team can be penalized for my behavior. I will obey a request by a referee or from the team's coach to leave the vicinity of the field.

MYS EEE plans

Hi Everyone,

We want to let you know that at our Board meeting last night we discussed EEE and how we can help keep our players, parents and coaches as safe as possible.

First, we are following all of the guidelines published by the City and Department of Health. For details you can review their website https://www.marlborough-ma.gov/home/urgent-alerts/eee-treatment-information-evening-outdoor-activity-cancellation-aerial-spraying

Second, we are moving our Kindergarten program from Hillside School to Fore Kicks for at least the next 3 weeks so that the program will be inside during the early morning hours when the mosquitoes are still active.

Third, we are trying to arrange indoor space for practices. This is going to be extremely difficult as other organizations like club teams are also booking indoor facilities and they have deeper pockets than we do.

Fourth, we are recommending to our coaches that they also look into the possibility of moving practices to Sunday during the day or possibly even Saturday (before or after the team’s game).

We understand that you may choose to keep your child home or remove them from their practice early. Please do what you feel is best for your family.

NEFC Junior Academy - Fall 2019

From Andy Mason NEFC Junior Academy Director:
__________________________________________

NEFC Junior Academy is a training only program, focused on individual player development and skills improvement. We have made some exciting changes for this year, that we think will make this our best year yet!

Firstly, the Junior Academy will now be split into TWO, 4 week 'sessions'. These will run back to back through the Fall.

Secondly (and most importantly), the first session will be completely FREE to all players! As a non-profit organization, we are continually trying to find ways to give back to families, and provide soccer for all. Please feel free to pass the information on to any friends, families or teammates too!

We have 2 separate locations (you are allowed to register for both), in Mendon and Marlboro. The dates and times have been set for the first session, please see below :
